Data Engineer Lead / Big Data Migration Lead

KeenConnect Consulting has been entrusted by one of our clients to identify an experienced Big Data Migration & Refactoring Engineer for a strategic cloud data transformation initiative.

The initial assignment will focus on migrating enterprise data workloads from Google BigQuery to Tencent Cloud, particularly WeData, Data Lake Compute (DLC), and Elastic MapReduce (EMR).

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end migration solutions while ensuring data integrity, platform compatibility, scalability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess existing data architecture, workloads, dependencies, and migration requirements
• Define the migration architecture, technical approach, and execution roadmap
• Migrate enterprise data workloads from Google BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake
• Convert and refactor GoogleSQL queries for the Tencent Cloud environment
• Redesign and migrate ETL/ELT pipelines across cloud data platforms
• Develop strategies for data synchronization, cutover, rollback, and business continuity
• Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and performance benchmarking
• Optimize queries and workloads to improve reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Troubleshoot compatibility and performance issues throughout the migration lifecycle
• Produce technical documentation and reusable migration frameworks

Key Requirement

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Data Engineering, SQL Refactoring, Big Data Migration, or Cloud Architecture
• Proven hands-on experience in enterprise data-platform migration involving Google BigQuery, Databricks, or Snowflake
• Strong proficiency in Google BigQuery and GoogleSQL
• Solid experience in SQL conversion, query refactoring, and performance optimization
• Strong understanding of data engineering principles and ETL/ELT pipeline migration
• Practical experience with Apache Spark, Hive, Flink, Iceberg, or other distributed data technologies
• Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of Java and/or Scala
• Experience with data synchronization, migration cutover, validation, and reconciliation
• Familiarity with Tencent Cloud WeData, DLC, EMR, COS, or comparable cloud-based big-data platforms
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management capabilities
